"Oh, my God, Max. She’s so cute. She’s having tea with her imaginary friend".

"Imaginary" takes a familiar concept of imaginary friends and spins it into a fresh, clever, and engaging supernatural horror thriller. Director Jeff Wadlow and the writing team of Greg Erb and Jason Oremland deliver a gripping narrative that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

The film boasts a talented cast led by DeWanda Wise, Tom Payne, and Taegen Burns, who deliver captivating performances that draw audiences into the haunting world of "Imaginary." From the eerie nightmares plaguing protagonist Jessica to the unsettling presence of the titular character Chauncey, portrayed with chilling menace, the performances add layers of tension and emotion to the story.

What sets "Imaginary" apart is its exploration of the psychological and emotional impact of imaginary friends gone awry. As Jessica's past collides with her present, the film delves into themes of abandonment, guilt, and the power of imagination. The revelation of Chauncey's true nature and the sinister realm of "The Never Ever" add depth and intrigue to the narrative, keeping viewers guessing until the final, heart-pounding moments.

Despite receiving negative reviews from some critics, "Imaginary" stands out as a solid entry in the PG-13 horror genre. While it may not be the best film in its category, it offers a refreshing take on a familiar theme and delivers plenty of thrills and chills along the way. For fans of supernatural horror looking for something new and exciting, "Imaginary" is definitely worth a watch. With its compelling story, strong performances, and clever twists, it earns a solid three-and-a-half stars.
